NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN RESOURCES
The Southern California American Indian Resource Center, Inc. (SCAIR) was established in 1997 as a not-for-profit 501(C)(3) community-based organization.
The primary purpose of SCAIR is to provide educational and community services for Native American Indians in San Diego County. These services include both the Native urban and tribal communities of San Diego County.
The SCAIR central office is located in Alpine, CA. SCAIR maintains a satellite office in east San Diego. Both SCAIR locations provide easy client access and are close to freeways and public transportation points.
SCAIR currently provides after school tutorial programs for Native American students attending the San Diego Unified School District in grades K through 12.
A registration form is enclosed for your review and application process. The tutorial program is coordinated with the District’s Indian Education Program.
Project Coordinator Ms. Vickie Gambala provides coordination for the tutorial program and the American Indian Recruitment (AIR) based at San Diego State University. SDSU provides college student tutors for the SCAIR program. (DOWNLOAD TUTORIAL REGISTRATION .pdf)
SCAIR also provides Urban Tribal Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF) services, which include basic education, GED, higher education, vocational training, job readiness and life skills.
